Chicago singer-songwriter RJ Griffith is now the voice of Fox Good Day News in Chicago and will soon be in Atlanta and Washington, D.C. as well. A modified version of RJ’s feel good song, “Good Day,” was created with new lyrics to put people in a positive mood to start their days while watching the Fox morning newscast. A promo video was also filmed in the Chicago market and has been airing as a commercial to promote the Fox Good Day Chicago News and the video is being used to open up the newscast first thing in the morning as well. The commercial debuted on Fox 32 Chicago on Thursday, December 5th during halftime of the Chicago Bears vs. Dallas Cowboys game. RJ also signed a deal for “Good Day” to be used in the Atlanta and Washington, D.C. markets, and the song will start being played on those local Fox stations in the near future.
RJ’s goal is to create upbeat music to spread positivity around the world and to encourage people to chase their dreams. RJ has been singing for the majority of his life, but has only been at it professionally for just over three years. During that short time, RJ has performed the National Anthem at multiple White Sox games, was selected to perform on the main stage at the Black Women’s Expo for their Chicago Matters Showcase, had one of his songs (Haunted By My Past) licensed into an independent movie, had “Good Day” put into radio rotation on two Chicago stations and featured on ABC 7 News Chicago, toured around the country including a performance on national television, and has opened up for many popular mainstream artists.
RJ’s feel good music style has already opened doors for him to speak/perform at multiple events, including the POP (Project Outreach & Prevention) on Youth Violence Fundraiser, the Developing a Better You Annual Teen Conference, multiple Obama Foundation events, Operation Rainbow Push events, school assemblies and anti-bullying conferences. Additionally, speaking at these events inspired RJ to start his own 501(c)(3) non-profit called Positive Vibes Only which serves primarily as an open mic/social club for local youth and gives them a chance to show off their creativity in singing, dancing, spoken word, comedy, acting, and more in a judgment-free zone. The organization also provides free educational sessions for youth once a month such as group vocal lessons, acting classes, mental health coping skill sessions and anti-bullying sessions. Positive Vibes Only holds community events such as back to school book bag drives and holiday food drives as well.Currently RJ is in the process of finishing up his new seven song EP titled A Good Day… with a planned release date of Tuesday, January 21st, 2020 and growing his Positive Vibes Only event in hopes to reach more Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana youth.
